Ez3kiel (Fra, Jarring effect)

On the shores of the rivers of Babylon leading to endless darkness, God chose Ez3kiel to be His prophet. Ez3kiel brought the light and hope to a people that felt abandoned, facing the long and painful battle still to come.
Battlefield, Ez3kiel’s album, offers that light, leading us through darkness and torments. A frozen, biting and snowy wind blows along this eleven-tracks trip. When the last bullet was fired, the last sabre hammered, when the last combatant is dying and about to rejoin the Valhalla, the music makes us consider peoples’ misery, obstinateness, destruction and reconstruction.
But do not expect to know what we are speaking about. You would underestimate the potential of surprise contained in this disc.
Rock for sure, with an eye on original references to groups like Nine Inch Nails, Primus of Neurosis, Ez3kiel shatters the prejudices that could remain after a listen of Naphtaline, their previous studio project. Nobody was able to define their music. Their inspiration has never shrinked into artistic compromise or into a smooth and polished identity. Sharp guitars, fat basses, heavy industrial drums… All elements are gathered for a big sound and incredible dynamics. Continuously re-inventing themes and arrangements over and over again, they take the exercise as far as grindcore.
That choice makes the new album a dark and mysterious one. The group proves to be enigmatic, always lifting up in the middle of an atmosphere worthy of Maldoror hymns, the veil of hope with melody and intensity.
Featuring on this album : BLU RUM 13 (MC in DJ Vadim’s Oneself), NARROW TERENCE (discovery band of Printemps de Bourges 2007) and D.A.A.U. (Belgian trio who already worked with Ez3kiel on V3rsus Tour). Stephane Babiaud, drummer, percussionist and keyboard player, joined the crew for this new album.
